Manual Focus Guide
The kit contains the following components:
Ruler, Sight, 2 x Handles, 2 x Straps, 6 x Clip-ons.
1. Mounting your FocusMaker Sight
Mount your FocusMaker Sight on the fixed section of the lens barrel, right behind the focus ring and as close to it as possible.
1. Mounting your FocusMaker Sight
Position the elastic strap over the hooks, and do not over tighten, if in doubt, always choose the hook that gives the lesser tension.
2. Positioning the strap
A great trick, you can twist the strap 1/2 a turn in order to make the positioning easier. This prevents the strap from sliding onto the focus ring
2. Positioning the strap
Make sure the strap rests on the surfaces of the Sight and not next to it (shown here). This could make it slide onto the focus ring, preventing smooth rotation.
3. Mounting the Ruler
Set your lens to Manual Focus, and adjust the rotation of the focus ring to 1/2 way of its full rotation.
3. Mounting the Ruler
Mount the Ruler as shown on the focus ring with the graphics facing towards the camera. Position the elastic strap according to step 2-3.
4. Preparing for your focus points
Make sure the ruler rotates freely in front of the sight with a distance of 10-15mm (1/2 inch). Fit the components gently into place if needed.
4. Preparing for your focus points
Find your relevant focus points accurately for your scene using the 10x magnifier in the camera and mark your points using the Clip-on stops.
5. Marking your focus points
Use the Clip-on stops in active mode for the far and near end stops (Active mode shown).
5. Marking your focus points
Use the Clip-on stops in passive mode for the intermediate focus points. (Passive mode shown).
6. Operating the Clip-on
When operating the Clip-on, balance it between your thumb and index finger for easy use and press on the textured areas.
6. Operating the Clip-on
Do not force the Clip-ons at the end.
7. Attaching the handle
Attach the handle wherever it is comfortable for your operation. Mount it similar to the Clip-on in active mode, pressing it down on the textured area.
And.... Action!
You are ready to start recording.
